On October 25th, 1978, the iconic horror film, "Halloween" was released in U.S. theaters. It was directed and scored by John Carpenter, who co-wrote it with the film's producer, Debra Hill. It stars Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis (in her film debut), among others. "Halloween" was shot in Southern California throughout May 1978, and was released on October 25th. The film grossed $70 million on a budget of around $300,000, becoming one of the most profitable independent films of all time.
