Today in Film History (October 26th, 1984): "The Terminator" is Released to Theaters!

On October 26th, 1984, the iconic science-fiction film, "The Terminator", was released to theaters. The film was directed by James Cameron, and stars Arnold Schwartzenegger as the Terminator, as well as Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor, and Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese. Filming took place mostly at night in Los Angeles, and was delayed because of Arnold's commitments to "Conan the Destroyer". Initially, the film was expected to have low box office gross, but it topped the United States box office for two weeks, and ultimately grossed $78.3 million, against a modest $6.4 million budget. The films success led to many other films in the franchise, including one of the greatest movie sequels of all time: "Terminator 2: Judgement Day".
