"Merry Christmas to all who celebrate from your friends at Westport Tech Museum!

On December 25th, 1941, Bing Crosby performed the classic Christmas hit, ""White Christmas"" in public for the first time on his NBC radio show, ""The Kraft Music Hall"". This performance happened just a few weeks after the infamous Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. The song, which was written by a Jew named Irvin Berlin, was released commercially on July 30, 1942. Crosby's version of the song topped the Billboard chart for 11 weeks in 1942, and returned to the number one spot in 1943 and 1944. Bing Crosby's version is also the world's best-selling single of all time (in terms of physical sales of media), with an estimated 50 million physical copies sold worldwide. "
