On October 11th, 1975, the first episode of "Saturday Night Live", also known as "SNL", aired on NBC. The first host of the show was comedian George Carlin, and the show was originally called "NBC's Saturday Night". Broadcast from Studio 8H in the Comcast Building in New York, New York, the show has aired 968 episodes since making its debut on television, and has become one of the longest-running network television programs in the United States! Successful sketches have been adapted into feature films, including "The Blues Brothers" (1980) and "Wayne's World" (1992). As of 2022, the show had recieved over 305 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, the most of any television program, and has won 84.
