Today in Video Game History (December 10th, 1993): "Doom" is Uploaded to the Internet in North America!

On December 10th, 1993, the iconic first-person shooter video game, "Doom" was released by id Software. "Doom" was the third independent release by id Software, after "Commander Keen" (1990-1991) and "Wolfenstein 3D" (1992), and was a very early example of 3D graphics in video games. "Doom" was a critical and commercial success, often being considered one of the best and most influential video games of all time! It sold 3.5 million copies by 1999, with an estimated 20 million people playing it within two years of launch. "Doom" is often cited as the "father" of first-person shooters, and is regarded one of the most important games in the genre to this day!
